Thinning studio slates have become dominated by big-budget tentpoles. Once the exception, franchises, reboots, and sequels have become the rule. And whether you love it or hate it, the trend doesn't seem to be letting up.
But why is this happening?
Because studios think it's safer to follow the same formula than it is to come up with new ideas.
We think movie fans deserve better.
ZDONK is a next-generation movie studio where fans greenlight the films, vote on certain aspects of the production, and reap the rewards of our breakout hits. Movie fans should have a voice. And we're working with some of Hollywood's most talented writers, directors, and producers to make sure you get one. Our mission is to democratize the industry. To bring movie fans behind-the-scenes and let talented filmmakers follow their creative vision, unencumbered by the bureaucratic studio development process.
For two years we've been pounding the pavement, meeting with Hollywood insiders who understand the need for change. It won't be easy to transform the industry. But if enough people get involved, we can make it happen.
